For his debut album, Ho’omaka, Hawaiian music artist Steven Espaniola was looking for packaging that resembled his refreshing new take on the traditional genre of Hawaiian music. Earthtone colors and layering of organic imagery helped showcase the talent of this multi-instrumental artist of Hawaiian slack key guitar and Hawaiian traditional falsetto. Steven’s follow up album, Ho’omaopopo, highlighted the deeper Hawaii roots and elevation in his music. With only his second CD, he is already compared to the legends of Hawaiian music. Our design for this packaging continued the layering of organic imagery, but expressed a distinct root in Steven’s musical stylings of Hawaiian music.
